The Salmon Inn at East Ord re-opened at the end of last month. It has been transformed into an inviting, friendly place to enjoy a drink, snack or home-cooked meal.

It now has new flooring, toilets, fixtures, fittings and furniture with improved lighting and signage outside to attract passers-by.

Further enhancements to the extensive beer garden are planned, with a seating area and garden suitable for small parties and events.

With the refurbishment complete, the Salmon Inn will continue to offer a wide range of real ales, beers and lagers, as well as a traditional home-cooked menu using locally-sourced and seasonal produce.

Karen and George took on the pub in October and hope, with a new and refreshed look, the place will be popular with the local community, as well as the passing tourist trade.

They have both run pubs for more than 20 years and Karen previously managed the Black Bull in Etal.

Karen said: “The Salmon Inn is a beautiful pub in a lovely setting, but it needed a makeover as it was starting to look a bit shabby. We’re delighted to work with Punch to give the place the new lease of life it needed.

“All of our food is homemade, using local, seasonal produce and we’re looking forward to offering BBQs in the summer in our improved beer garden, as well as quiz nights.

“We also have plans to host small weddings and events outdoors as we have one of the biggest pub gardens in the area and it’s an ideal setting for a celebration.

“By working together with Punch, alongside the expertise, support and training they’ve provided us, we’ve created a refreshed Salmon Inn and look forward to welcoming our loyal customers back to try the new menu and have a look around, as well as new customers from a wider area. We’re excited to build this business together to make a warm and inviting pub for everyone to enjoy.”

Punch business development manager, Rebecca Davies, said: “The refurbishment has really transformed the Salmon Inn and it looks great. I’m sure that Karen and George have the experience and expertise to develop a successful business.”
