River Tweed film will be followed by book release
A vast project which will be turned into a documentary film covering many aspects of life around the catchment area of the River Tweed may be ready later this year, with a follow-up book in 2018.
Guest speaker Martha Andrews told Berwick Probus Club it would be about ‘our river’.
It will cover the area along its banks but also embrace towns like Hawick, Galashiels and Selkirk.
It is being led by the Tweed Forum and another major sponsor.
Research on its environment, history, fishing, culture, the mills, churches, abbeys, the reivers and much more has been carried out.
The speaker said the film would feature many well-known and also lesser-known topics. She said she found the work to be very interesting.
The film’s journey will end at Berwick lighthouse but she said that at one time Berwick was 20 miles away from the North Sea.
