WTC members have worked hard to raise the funds to enable the two courts to be resurfaced and significantly improved. With support from club members, quiz nights, a film night and Sponsor a Square, as well as grants from Barmoor Wind Farm, Duncan & Sarah Davidson, The Joicey Trust and the Sir James Knott Trust, the money was raised to enable the work to be done.

Despite delays due to the snow early in the year, the work has now be completed, ready for the 2018 season.

Jo Gidlow, chair of Wooler Tennis Club, said: “It’s been a huge effort to raise the money to get this long-awaited work done. The courts are looking great – with no dips – and now complement the clubhouse that we built a couple of years ago. It really is a brilliant sports facility for Wooler and the surrounding area”

Jo continued: “We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts. We’re a very friendly club and encourage anyone to come along and enjoy a game of tennis – an excellent way to get active outdoors!”
