Following a successful trial at two leisure centres, Active Northumberland launched its new app to fitness users at 12 centres across the county, including the Swan Centre in Berwick.

It allows people to access a whole host of features all in one place on their smartphone or tablet.

The app enables leisure centre users to book or cancel classes, check timetables and availability, join waiting lists for over-subscribed classes, access special offers or view the latest alerts.

The Active Northumberland app has been trialled at Wentworth and Concordia Leisure Centre throughout March, with more than 1,400 people downloading the app during that time. Feedback from the trial has been very positive, with fitness users finding it easier to manage their classes and activities via the easy-to-use app.

Lorraine Dewison, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland, said: “We’re delighted to launch this new app which will make it much easier for users across the county to book fitness sessions, classes and other activities on the move.

“The trial at Wentworth and Concordia leisure centres went really well, and the feedback has been very positive. We’ve also seen a real appetite from fitness users in other parts of Northumberland so we’re really pleased to be able to roll out the Active Northumberland app across the county.

“We want to make sure our fitness classes and activities are accessible to as many people as possible and we hope the introduction of this new app will make it even easier for more people to lead healthier and more active lifestyles.”

The app is not available at Rothbury, Druridge and Bedlington.
