Rescue mission launched after vehicle caught out by tide on Holy Island Causeway

Emergency services have been called out on a rescue mission after a vehicle has become stranded on Holy Island Causeway earlier this afternoon.

Seahouses lifeboat latest

The inshore lifeboat crew from Seahouses RNLI and Coastguard from Seahouses and Holy Island are on the scene. A Swiftwater team from Berwick and a fire engine from Seahouses are also present, while another appliance from Alnwick and a further one from Eyemouth have been stood down.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 1.21pm and the RNLI's help was requested. A RNLI spokesman said that it was unclear how many occupants are in the vehicle, but one is described as having a medical condition.
