Hundreds of ducks will be taking to Wooler Water this summer as part of a bumper two-day Glendale Festival on July 22 and 23.

“The duck races are part of a host of new community events, such as skateboarding displays, football matches, bowls, a car boot sale and old fashioned games in the park,” Fiona said.

“And to help get it going and raise funds, we’re holding a ‘pop-up’ festival fund-raising shop in Wooler High Street.

“It’s just before Easter so we’re hoping people might like to choose their ducks and put a bet on.

“Meanwhile, bath times in our house are driving us quackers.”

The shop, next to Ramblers Cafe, will have home-made cakes and goodies, plants and a table-top sale for crafts or small items on April 8.

The Glendale Festival is a day of family fun with live bands, dance, stalls, street entertainment and children’s activities spread over two days in July.
