Prize-winners from the Inter-School Cross Country competition at Longridge Towers.

There were 273 children from 11 visiting schools as well as pupils from the host school from Years 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The sun shone and the event was judged a great success with all the children and watching parents and grandparents enjoying the afternoon.

Each race was run with great spirit with some very muddy but happy children at the end.

A prize-winning ceremony was held and every participant was treated to a refreshing drink. Longridge winners were Fraser Gilmour and Jessica McCowan.

“Well done to our sports stars and to all our children who took part and thank you to our J5 and J6 marshals,” said the school. “This year we only found three shoes in the muddy path, which is a record!”

On Monday, it was the turn of pupils from local middle schools.
