The 29-strong group went to visit Newcastle University during the half-term break.

They got a chance to chat with current students there and found out more about what life is like as a student.

They also had a chance to work together to create a story and look at the different courses that are available.

Finally, they went on a tour of the university campus and had their own graduation where they were joined by Newcastle University’s mascot, Percy the Lion.

Haley Garland, Tweedmouth Community Middle School’s community co-ordinator, said: “All the children behaved impeccably and were all a credit to the school.

“I hope to see some of their real graduation photos in a few years’ time.”
