MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan has been visiting Alnwick businesses which recently reopened as part of the latest lifting of lockdown restrictions.

The Berwick-upon-Tweed MP visited Barter Books and Robinsons clothing boutique.

She also called in to No Limits Health Club on Fenkle Street to see for herself the measures taken to make visits safe for customers.

She said: “It is wonderful to be able to visit these local businesses in my constituency again, to talk to the staff about the challenges of the last year, and the ways in which they are making things safe for their customers.

"They are all working so hard, and I would urge residents to support them by shopping local wherever possible.”

The MP, who has backed Northumberland County Council’s Shop Local campaign, later had lunch at the Pig in Muck in Alnwick’s Market Square.

The visits were rescheduled as a result of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, having been originally planned last week.
