Praise for 'amazing' team at Hadston House for keeping vulnerable people in Northumberland safe and cared for
Since the coronavirus lockdown began, the team at Hadston House have served up more than 400 meals on wheels a week as well as delivering prescriptions, shopping and shielding packs for people who were required to stay at home.
It came after more than two million people in the UK deemed particularly vulnerable to Covid-19 received letters from health chiefs advising them to not leave the house at all. Many Northumberland residents fell into that category.

“If that wasn’t enough, our old van broke down in the middle of it all. Thankfully we sourced another one, but in the meantime volunteers used their cars.
“No obstacle was too great, and they did have lots of obstacles to deal with.”
But their efforts didn’t stop there, with the team deciding to donate Amble fish, chips and mushy peas cooked at the centre for around 40 people in the Heatherdale care home, in Broomhill.

“They have worked together to help and serve local people, sometimes having to overcome all sorts of challenges but always with a smile.
“I was absolutely delighted with their idea of donating fish, chips and mushy peas to the residents of Heatherdale during National Carers’ Week.
“If this pandemic has shown us anything, it is that we need to care for and look after people. The team at Hadston House has done far more than could have been expected.
