Police set up stall at seaside festival

Visitors to the Spittal Seaside Festival picked up crime prevention advice from Northumbria Police during their day at the beach.

Officers from Berwick Neighbourhood Policing Team set up their crime prevention stall during the popular weekend event to offer advice to residents and tourists alike who came along to enjoy the family friendly event.

Neighbourhood Inspector Liz Hall said: “Events like this really get people together both locals and visitors and it’s good for our officers to join in these community gatherings and offer their help.

“While adults chatted and asked advice, their youngsters took the opportunity to see inside a police van and try out the police lights.”

The annual free event took place on Spittal Promenade with plenty of street entertainment, live music, food, Punch and Judy and funfairs for people to enjoy at the seaside.
