Police appeal for witnesses to alleged sexual assault

Police are appealing for any witnesses following an alleged sexual assault on board a train near Berwick.

The incident took place on Thursday, August 16 between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on a train travelling between Glasgow Central and Newcastle Central during which a man is said to have made inappropriate comments to a group of woman and then touched another woman inappropriately.

Police officers attended where a 29-year-old man from Newcastle was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and sexual assault. He has been released under police investigation the investigation continues.

Officers are making a number of enquiries into this incident but are now appealing for further witnesses and the victims to get in touch.
