Planning for 2018 remembrance under way
Preparations are already under way to commemorate Remembrance Sunday in November.
2018 is the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War so the event has extra significance.
“There is likely to be an upsurge in interest,” acknowledged Berwick Town Council clerk Gareth Davies in a discussion at full council.
Meetings have already been held with the north Northumberland branch of the Royal British Legion and the King’s Own Scottish Borderers Association.
“We have been looking at how to mark the occacion in an appropriate way, perhaps by way of an exhibition,” said Mr Davies.
The KOSB’s current exhibition, Aftermath of War, will run until November 11.
“We want to put together a programme of events and we want to hear from all the organisations – and the wider public – with an interest in this,” added Mr Davies.
