Following a series of open consultation meetings earlier this year, Berwick's Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has now identified the seven most important topics that were raised by the public.

They are: Employment & Skills; Housing; Transport; Tourism; Natural Environment; Built Environment, including conservation and urban design; Youth.

Working groups will now be set up to examine these issues in more detail, identify potential solutions and develop new planning polices for Berwick, Spittal and Tweedmouth.

Eric Goodyer, chair of the steering group, said: “We have had an incredible response from the public with hundreds of submissions to the Neighbourhood Plan. Now the real work begins.

“We need volunteers for the Working groups to assist with analysing the data, preparing reports and develop new planning policies. We also still need the public and organisations to send in their opinions on how Berwick, Spittal and Tweedmouth should develop over the next 15 years.”
