Plan drawn up to save evening taxibus
A taxibus service providing an evening public transport service around Berwick is in need of financial support.
Taxi firm Woody’s introduced the service earlier this year after Borders Buses withdrew its evening service.
Coun Georgina Hill, member for Berwick East on Northumberland County Council, raised the issue at Berwick Town Council’s budget and administration committee.
She revealed: “Northumberland County Council have drawn up a proposal because the current evening service is running at a significant loss to the operator.”

The proposal is to divert funding from the hoppa bus, which would continue, andprovide an extra £4,000.
Town clerk Gareth Davies said the issue was more complicated in that the county council had submitted a revised plan which involved the town council spending 40 per cent more.
The issue is expected to be on the full council agenda on Tuesday night.
