After 23 years in the south of England, Phil Robson, who has owned and managed catering outlets throughout his working life, returned with his wife Jayne to his native Northumberland and began renovating an 18th century farmhouse.

With that project almost complete, Phil was looking for a new challenge when he learned that Heatherslaw Tearoom was available to rent.

Phil said: “My ethos is to use as much local produce as possible, so what could be better than being next to a working cornmill which can supply me with freshly ground flour and oatflakes for the cakes and bakes I offer in the tearoom?”

The cosy tearoom is open daily and serves a range of home-baked cakes and tray bakes, speciality scones, light lunches and snacks as well as Rington’s teas and coffees and Doddington Dairy icecreams.

The upstairs Granary is also available for private hire, children’s birthday parties etc. For more information contact 01890 820737, email [email protected] - or call in.
