Tributes to Northumberland woman who ran a wildlife sanctuary for nearly 40 years
Retired teacher Lisa Bolton ran a sanctuary for sick and injured creatures at her home in Chatton for nearly 40 years.
She received the MBE from Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace in 2008.

Hide AdHer daughter Gay said: “My brother Nick and I were immensely proud of our mum. She worked around the clock and in all weather conditions to ensure that the creatures in her care were safe and well fed.”
Lisa trained as a teacher at Alnwick College of Education. She taught at Barndale House School in Alnwick and later at The Grove School in Berwick.
Lisa lived in Chatton for more than 50 years.
Her husband, John, who created the millennium sculpture at the entrance to the village, died in 2014.
