Seahouses lifeboat crew in early-morning evacuation of woman on Holy Island with chest pains

A woman on Holy Island had to be evacuated to hospital with the help of Seahouses Lifeboat crew after experiencing chest pains.

At 2.10am on Saturday, November 26 Seahouses LifeboatSstation was alerted that a woman needed medical assistance, with the crew initially charged with transporting an ambulance crew to the island.

A statement from Seahouses Lifeboat crew said: “The Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses lifeboat, to transport an ambulance crew to Holy Island. The Causeway was closed by the tide. On this occasion, a female was suffering chest pains. The Lifeboat launched as the ambulance arrived at Seahouses, and then made best speed to the Island with the ambulance crew aboard."

After arriving just after 3am on Saturday, the woman was assessed and needed to be evacuated to the mainland.

The statement added: “The ambulance crew and patient were then transported by lifeboat to their vehicle at Seahouses, for the onward road journey to Cramlington Emergency Specialist Care Hospital.”
