Not long left to vote deadline

The countdown is on for votes to help Northumberland retain its crown as the best destination in the UK.

Voting for the British Travel Awards closes on September 30 and Northumberland County Council and Northumberland Tourism are urging businesses, residents and visitors to vote for the county, which won the Best Destination/County category last year having been runner-up behind Cornwall for the previous four years.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

The winner of the prestigious accolade will be announced on November 27 at an event in London.

More than 10 million people visited the county in 2018, spending more than £1billion.
