New brand for Berwick is unveiled
A new brand for Berwick-upon-Tweed has been unveiled following months of work.
Residents and businesses were shown the new Place-Brand at an event at The Kings Arms Hotel last week.
HemingwayDesign, the consultants appointed to develop the new Place-Brand, held a drop-in session to reveal the new town brand and discuss its development and deployment.
Jack Hemingway, lead on the project, said: “We’re coming towards the most exciting part of this project now – handing it over to the people of Berwick-upon-Tweed.
“We first started visiting at the end of last year and have made connections in the town that we won’t forget.
“We gathered knowledge to bring together the true story of the place, and checked and refined our thinking at every stage with drop-in public workshops, town hall presentations, one-on-one conversations and informal gatherings.”
He added: “The result of our role in this project is a set of values and visuals that tell a story of Berwick-upon-Tweed that we really believe in.
“Now it’s time to empower the people – every one of the town’s citizens can contribute to its success by using the place brand tools that will be available to everyone.”
David Fairclough, general manager at Berwick Holiday Park, said: “The new brand designs are a modern view of our fantastic heritage that will no doubt be valuable in attracting new guests to the town.
“I particularly like the explanation of the values we should stand for and the text behind that, which tells potential visitors what they can expect from our town in both a factual and light-hearted way.”
Berwick town clerk Gareth Davies said: "We're delighted by the warm reception for the branding proposals.
“They have a professional look and feel that makes all of us really optimistic about the next phase of this work, developing the new Visit Berwick website.
“We're also confident we'll be able to meet our goals to publish full details of the brand on the town council website this autumn."
