Amy Faragher and Jack Laing ran the route, which finished at the station, in their inshore lifeboat drysuits.

Other crew members – Ryan Dalrymple, Claire Mabon, John Campbell and Mildred the rescue spaniel – had a more leisurely walk.

The Mayday Mile is the RNLI's main fund-raising event this year, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

It asks people throughout the UK and Ireland to get active and cover at least a mile in aid of the charity.

The money raised from this initiative will go towards equipping and training RNLI crews.
