Dame Vera Lynn dies at age 103 surrounded by close family, statement confirms

A statement released by her family on Thursday, June 18 confirmed that Dame Vera died earlier today surrounded by her close family.
Her best-known song We’ll Meet Again, which became prominent during the Second World War, took on a new meaning for so many at the start of the coronavirus lockdown in March.

Hide AdQueen Elizabeth also made reference to it during a televised address to the nation during the pandemic.
We’ll Meet Again also re-entered the UK Top 40 chart as the nation marked the 75th anniversary of VE day last month.
The 103-year-old was born in East London on March 20, 1917 and she made her recording debut in the 1930s.
She devoted a lot of her time to charity work connected with ex-servicemen, disabled children and breast cancer.
