Christmas hampers delivered to north Northumberland residents after generous donations to Berwick Food Bank

Generous donations to Berwick Food Bank have enabled Christmas hampers to be delivered to north Northumberland residents in need.

The initiative has been coordinated by Berwick Community Trust with help from Volunteering North Northumberland.

"The feedback from recipients has been very positive,” said Becci Murray, Berwick Food Bank project manager.

“We have been blown away by the generosity of the donations of both food and cash from our community and businesses.

"The cash has enabled us to get together with Jed’s Butchers and W.R Skelly & Son who have helped us out in setting up a meat voucher scheme so that we can add a voucher to each Christmas hamper parcel.

"We have also teamed up with Northern Soul Kitchen and The Mule on Rouge who have donated some vouchers for fabulous festive cheesecakes.”

The number of people supported by Berwick Food Bank is up 58% on last year, although up in excess of 200% during lockdown.
