Others reap our rewards

I am more than normally confused.

I noted with interest your piece which listed the recipients of £23,000 in grants awarded by Berwick Community Trust from the profits of the turbine that, in my view, blights the northern approach to the town, (Berwick Advertiser, July 14).

Money seems to have been disbursed as far south as Chester-le-Street. This implies that others benefit from Berwick’s efforts without any of the negative effects, in the same way that much of the profit generated by the wind farms which dominate the Northumberland landscape flows overseas.

But, hang on a moment. The Berwick Community Trust website proclaims that “all the profit generated from our activities is re-invested in Berwick for the good of residents”.

Some contradiction, surely?
