Optician to support diabetes charity
A Berwick opticians is helping magnify the impact of a nationwide awareness drive by Diabetes UK this June.
The store is showing its support for the charity by donating £1 for every eye test carried out in store over the course of Diabetes Week (June 11-17).
Customers will also be invited to make a donation in return for specs repairs performed during the awareness week.
Craig Bell, director at Specsavers in Berwick, said: “We have heard the call to #talkaboutdiabetes this June. And not only do we want to spark a conversation here in Berwick, we want to support Diabetes UK in its invaluable work to tackle the health condition, which affects more people in the UK than dementia and cancer combined.
“Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can lead to eye damage, so this cause is particularly resonant with us as eyecare experts.”
