Excited to see the changes

I was recently asked to join the Board Of Trustees for Berwick Academy. I agreed because I am constantly hearing and reading negative things about the school, and I find this really sad.

I have a lot of interest in the academy as I am the town councillor for Upper Spittal and the school is in my ward. I have a child in the school and I, myself, am a former pupil.

We are a small community and I feel that we all need to pull together, instead of putting the school down.

I am really excited to see the changes that will come in the academy and, after meeting staff, trustees and some of the kids, I believe the school will return to how it used to be.

It won’t happen overnight and it will take time, but I believe it is going in the right direction and I am happy to be part of it.

I also want to thank personally, and on behalf of the rest of the trustees, the loyal staff who have stayed with it and continue to be there for the kids. I think we have a great team at the academy and will move the school forward.

There are a lot of exciting things happening, which will be announced soon.

We are also looking for another parent trustee so if anybody is interested, please contact the academy.

Trustees also want to bring back the PTA and any help from parents would be gratefully received.

It’s often too easy to sit back and listen to hearsay without knowing the facts. Believe me, the staff and acting headteacher are working so hard and are so dedicated to getting the school back to how it was.
