Open day to showcase Swan Centre facilities

An open day is to be held at The Swan Centre in Berwick to showcase the new gym equipment, activities and facilities on offer '“ and the swimming pool will be turned pink especially for the day!

The free open day will take place on Saturday, April 28, from 9am to 3pm.

Those attending will be able to receive a health check, take part in fitness class and gym taster sessions and take a tour of the gym. The bouncy castle will also be available for children.

The Swan Centre gym recently underwent a £120,000 upgrade, including the installation of a range of sophisticated Technogym equipment, new spin bikes, rowing machines, climbers and skillmill treadmills.

New cutting-edge technology can also link mobile phones to the machines via an app so you can track the results and progress of all your indoor and outdoor fitness sessions.

The centre has also invested in a new Tanita body analyser which accurately measures both body fat and body mass giving a true indicator of your inner health.

When monitored over time, the analyser can show the impact of any fitness regime or weight-loss programme, helping you to achieve your optimal fitness and improve your health and wellbeing.

Coun Cath Homer, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure at Northumberland County Council, said: “The Swan Centre gym has some of the industry’s most innovative equipment which can be used by all abilities. The centre also has a fantastic team of fully-qualified staff and a range of fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels.”

She added: “We hope that members of the community will come along to the open day, have a look around and find out more about how we can help them achieve their own personal health or fitness goals.”
