Open day to be held in Lowick
Lowick Parish Council is holding an open day on Saturday to get the opinions of local residenys about its proposals for the village Neighbourhood Plan, as it goes forward to consultation with Northumberland County Council, and next year, to a public referendum.
The open day will be held between 10 am and 2 pm in Lowick Village Hall. The plans so far produced will be on display, and a questionnaire has been prepared for visitors to fill in. There will be free refreshments and a chance to talk over ideas.
John Huddart, chairman of Lowick Parish Council, said: “We consulted the village in 2016, asking them what they valued in the community and what they would like to see enhanced or preserved in the future. As a result we have been able to draw up six objectives to cover the issues, and are proposing policies that the Plan will deliver.”
He added: “These cover Community Facilities, Accessibility, Housing, Heritage and Design, The Local Economy, and Natural Environment and Bio-diversity.”
“We are naturally keen to get people’s views on these issues – especially on where the boundary of our village should be, and kind of development that our local plan should include.
“We are keen to be proactive and look to the overall wellbeing of the community long term. We are seeking to promote growth and prosperity, as well to preserve what is best and unique in our parish.
For those unable to attend, John adds: “All the details are on our website, including an online version of the questionnaire for people to give their views. The simplest way to access this information is via the parish website on https://lowick.live.
