Berwick Town Council has five noticeboards at the moment – at Eastern Lane, North Road, Tweedmouth, Spittal and the Swan Centre – but they are in poor condition.

Members would like to get new ones but are wary of the cost so asked for more information.

Coun Alex Gibson also suggested the Eastern Lane one should be relocated to Castlegate car park.

“I think it would be a more appropriate place because the footfall there is much greater,” he told members of the council’s local services committee.

Clerk Gareth Davies also revealed an application had been made to Northumberland County Council’s Community Chest Fund for new noticeboards at Pier Road and Spittal Point.

A report will be made to the February 26 meeting.
