Not right for this council
So, Berwick's '˜spend, spend, spend' parish council is at it yet again.
It has voted to spend a minimum of £20,000 of council taxpayers’ money on upgrading a play park and, despite the fact that even its clerk has expressed concern about the financial risks involved, spend £4,000 of council taxpayers’ money per year for four years on providing a bus service, something that a county council, not a town council, should be doing, (Berwick Advertiser, December 6).
Worthy causes perhaps, but for a town council as financially small as Berwick’s, no.
Maybe we should now start looking at the civil and criminal legal liabilities of councillors who vote to extract money from their council taxpayers.
