Northumbria NHS wins award again
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has won the CHKS Top Hospitals national patient experience award for the third consecutive year.
It is seen as having one of the most comprehensive patient experience programmes in the NHS and, alongside national surveys, gathers feedback from thousands of patients every year to improve.
This award comes shortly after a hat-trick of awards at the Patient Experience Network (PEN) National Awards in April 2018, where Northumbria was named as overall ‘trust of the year’.
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme celebrates excellence and recognises healthcare providers that demonstrate outstanding achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.
It is regarded as a mark of excellence in the NHS and CHKS has used over 27 years of experience in the analysis of hospital data to decide the indicators on which each of the Top Hospitals programme awards are judged.
Annie Laverty, director of patient experience at Northumbria Healthcare, said: “We are truly delighted that, once again, we have been given the patient experience award for our work taking place across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
“Whether our patients use our services in hospital, in the community or in adult social care, we know that it’s not just the clinical care they receive that matters – how it is given and the atmosphere they receive it in are just as important.
“None of this would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our teams who are truly passionate about what they do and I’d like to thank them for their on-going efforts.
“We look forward to building on this success and implementing additional innovative projects to benefit more of our patients.”
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards were held in London on May 15 and hosted by NHS Confederation chief executive, Niall Dickson with guest speaker Dr Ed Coates. Over 200 guests attended including leaders from across the healthcare sector.
