Northumberland is the place to be for our holidays

There's no need for county residents to go anywhere as Bamburgh has been named the second-best seaside town for a staycation, while the National Park is in the 15 most affordable destinations for October half-term.

New research from Marbles has compiled a ranking of 40 of the UK’s top seaside towns with Bamburgh in second place.

It is based on factors such as the cost of hotel rooms, number of restaurants and pubs, number of attractions, beach grade and annual sun hours.

Meanwhile, recent data released by HolidayLettings.co.uk, a leading holiday-home website and TripAdvisor company, shows Northumberland National Park is among the UK’s 15 most affordable destinations for holiday homes over the October half-term break. Rates for a two-bedroom rental during the period from October 16 to 27 average £436 for a week-long stay.
