Formerly The Loovre, situated on Bankhill, the newly christened Northern Edge Coffee Bar will be catering to all coffee needs, as well as serving fresh waffles, Doddington’s Ice Cream, and milkshakes.

In keeping with Northern Edge’s environmentally-friendly ethos, all packaging and cutlery used will be biodegradable and a discount will be offered to anyone who brings their own mug.

Once a Victorian ladies loo, the building was acquired by Berwick Preservation Trust in 2014 and was run as an ice cream parlour by David Blackburn until last autumn.

Dan Inglis, Northern Edge owner, said: “We’ve spent the winter lovingly renovating the inside of the building, trying the keep much of the buildings historical charm while putting our own twist on it .”
