Berwick failed to meet with any success when they travelled to Redcar on Thursday, hoping to get their play-off hopes back on track.

Bandits had won on Teesside earlier in the season, but this time around they were second best to a Bears side who took maximum points from a meeting which was abandoned after 13 heats due to heavy rain.

Berwick remained in contention in the early part of the meeting, 1-5s from Danny Gappmaier and Liam Carr in heat two and Matty Wethers and Theo Pijper in heat seven, with Thomas Jorgensen winning in heat four, meaning they were only four adrift at 23-19.

But Bandits had no answer for Hugh Skidmore, who raced to an 11 paid 12 maximum, and with former Berwick rider David Bellego winning his first three races and Tobias Busch only beaten once by an opponent, the Bears gradually pulled away.

Jorgensen also won heat 13, beating Bellego, but proceedings were then halted by the weather, with the result standing.
