TTIP, or Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, promises investors new legal rights to sue future UK governments who might want to reverse privatisation of the NHS.

Members of the People’s NHS have called for action from Berwick MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

They say they have received new legal advice from a leading lawyer proving a ‘real and serious risk’ to future governments wishing to take the NHS back into public hands. The advice strongly recommends the government exclude the NHS from TTIP.

A campaign spokesman said: “Anne-Marie Trevelyan should tell David Cameron in the strongest possible terms that the people of her Berwick constituency do not think it is right that their NHS should be put at risk of irreversible privatisation.”

Berwick and District Trades Union Council has organised a public meeting tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm at The Granary. Speakers include Jude Kirton-Darling MEP, Labour lead on TTIP, and others. All welcome.
