New speedway training track ready to open its doors

Berwick Speedway Academy's new training track is ready to open its doors.

The new facility, based at the Langton Lees Motocross track near Duns in Berwickshire, has been constructed from scratch over a period of a year and a half.

And it will officially open and welcome its first sessional riders this weekend.

Berwick Speedway co-promoter Scott Courtney, who along with Gary Flint has been one of the driving forces behind the project said: “The track will launch its first official session this Sunday (October 22) at 11am.

The circuit has been constructed with the help of a willing band of volunteers and it is one of only a few of its kind in the country.

“A lot of hard work has gone to getting us to this stage,” said Courtney, “and of course we couldn’t have done it without all their help and of course our backers, Grant Henderson Tankers.”

Plans are in place for the first session to run on Sunday between 11am and 3pm.

250cc and 500cc riders - £40 per session; 125cc and under 250cc riders - £35 per session; Under 125cc juniors - £30. Day License’s are also available by request.

All levels are welcomed and guidance and tuition from experienced staff including Kevin Doolan, Aaron Summers, Scott Courtney, Tamas Sike and Gary Flint will be available. whilst training bikes will be also be available for hire in the very near future.
