There will be a gathering in the Brewers Arms at 5pm for drinks before a parade to the Guildhall at 5.45pm.

The principals will lead the way at the Riding of the Bounds on Saturday, April 29.

The rideout, which attracts more than 50 horses and riders, is free to spectators and to riders, no registration required.

Berwick Riders Association hopes the move to a Saturday – away from the traditional date of May 1 – will increase participation and draw bigger crowds into the town.

Some concerns have been raised about the departure from tradition so the riders association envisages that a ceremonial event to mark the ancient bounds may still take place on May 1.
