New classroom space is created at Spittal
An extension at Spittal First School is really proving its worth.
Two new classrooms were built over the summer and have been occupied since the start of the school year.
Headteacher Wendy Kiff said: “Everyone at Spittal School is really thrilled about the building of two new classrooms. We have increasing numbers and the local authority invested in building two new classrooms complete with an intervention room and toilets to enhance our existing provision.”
The architects designed a bright space with a modern feel, equipped with the latest technology, while retaining some of the character of the existing building.
“With new classrooms added, it has allowed for a greater flexibility of use within the existing building,” said Mrs Kiff. “We are able to accommodate before and after school provision, a mother and baby group, space to host courses and for specialist teaching. The children love the colour, decoration, smart boards, library and warmth of their classrooms.”
