New book by local artist
Artist Kate Philp, who lives near Berwick, has produced a new coffee table book featuring a fabulous collection of her paintings.
Mind’s Eye will take the reader on a journey from the Highlands of Scotland where she spent much of her childhood, through the Scottish Borders and Berwickshire, to Northumberland where she now lives.
An inside look at what has guided and inspired her during her career as an artist weaves its way through the 70 images portrayed in this book.
There will be a book signing at Pier Red in Castlegate, Berwick on Wednesday, November 9 from 7pm-9pm which promises to be the perfect opportunity to pick up a copy and enjoy music by Swing Street Jazz, who will be playing from 8pm-10pm.
Kate is also doing a book signing at The Alnwick Gallery on Saturday, December 10 from 2pm-4pm.
Alexander McCall Smith says: “Words and pictures come together beautifully in this fascinating book. Anyone interested in how an artist is inspired will delight in Kate Philp’s account of her painting and its background.”
Fran Cotton adds: “I fell in love with Kate Philp’s painting whilst dining at the Mizen Head restaurant in Bamburgh. All available wall space was filled with paintings of local scenes which I recognised from my many walks along the north Northumberland cost. I was lucky enough to buy 3 of Kate’s paintings. Like all things of beauty, they fill me with enormous pleasure whenever my eye catches sight of them. Having met Kate she is a woman of rare talent and beliefs. Her book is a selection of some of her favourite scenes that she particularly enjoyed painting.”
