The Berwick MP spoke to a number of delegates, representing industries as diverse as construction, infrastructure, and tourism.

The theme of the conference was ‘building on the bridge’ with a focus on Berwick’s key strategic location and its ability to provide businesses with excellent links between England and Scotland.

The conference explained the excellent transport links Berwick has, as well as the new Enterprise Zone – instigated as part of the Government’s Northern Powerhouse initiative.

Mrs Trevelyan said: “It is good to see businesses within the knowledge economy keen to set up here and use Berwick as a bridge between England and Scotland.

“Our wonderful town has a long history of this role and it’s great to see its 21st century potential for linking two nations once again.

“I congratulate Berwick Town Council for organising such a great event for potential investors and thank UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) for sponsoring the day.”

The MP spoke to businessmen and women such as Frank Massam, founder and chief executive of Nemesis Bioscience Ltd, whose company does work in Edinburgh and Newcastle and was looking at Berwick as a good site halfway between both.
