Motorcyclist dies at scene of crash on Northumberland road

A 32-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene of a two-vehicle crash, Northumbria Police has confirmed.

The force was called to Green Lane, Ashington, shortly after 7.45am on Friday to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision in which a motorbike had collided with a stationary car.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed the death of Darryl Townsley, the 32-year-old rider of the motorbike, at the scene.

A statement said: “Darryl Townsley, the 32-year-old rider of the motorbike died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His family are being supported by specialist officers and we ask their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

“We are appealing for any witnesses to come please forward. If you saw what happened, or if you have any dash-cam footage, then please contact police.”
