Mortar bomb is found on beach

Howick Coastguard was called out on Sunday after a Second World War mortar bomb was found in the dunes at Football Hole, near Low Newton.

The Coastguard team liaised with police and returned on Monday to meet the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, who detonated the device. The piece of ordnance was found by Andy Craig.
