The Berwick side, who top the B Division, trailed visitors Newtown 0-2 early in the second half at the Five Arches, but hit back to win 3-2.

The home side lost Sean Dixon to injury early in the game and a goal for the visitors gave them a slender 0-1 lead at the end of the first half.

A cup exit then looked on the cards when they conceded a second goal early in the second half, but Michael Antcliffe gave them a lifeline when he pulled a goal back with a header on the hour mark.

Just five minutes later it was 2-2 when Kev Lee rattled home an equaliser.

Antcliffe was then brought down in the box and Aaron Hope converted from the spot to see Tweedmouth through.

It was goals all the way as Highfields kicked off 2019 with a 5-5 away draw at Jed Legion in the Waddell Cup.

Unfortunately, the Berwick side lost out 4-2 on a penalty shootout as the home side progressed to the third round.

Highfields’ scorers in the game were K France, R Lillico, M Wilson, L Dodd and R Wedderburn.

Berwick Colts faced Kelso Thistle away in a B League match and what a day it turned out to be for new signing John Crawford, who netted four goals on his debut in a dramatic 5-4 win. The other goalscorer was J Moore.

In the C Division Tweedmouth harrow stormed to a big 12-1 home win over St Boswells.

Jonny Simpson and Martyn Tait both netted hat-tricks for the Berwick side with Robin Brown (2), Ben Jackson (2), Sean Simpson and Kris Neil completing the scoring.
