Massive support for Berwick Food Bank over festive period

Local businesses and individuals have really got behind the Berwick Food Bank this Christmas.

The team involved with the food bank would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of the local people who have donated over this year and especially for the amazing generosity it has seen in the lead up the festive period.

More than 300 food parcels have been distributed this year.

Becci Murray, project manager at Berwick Community Trust, which manages the food bank, said: “We continue to be blown away by the fantastic support and generosity of our community, but saddened by the increasing need for the food bank.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the bood bank over the past year and wish them a very happy Christmas.”

As well as donations from individuals and churches, there has been fantastic support from local businesses.

Becci said: “We would like to thank Tesco for allowing us to collect food from shoppers in their store; Asda for donating the bags to pack the parcels and for their food donations; Poundland for donating selection boxes,; Argos staff for the Advent Calendars that children so enjoy and to the Newcastle Building Society for their collections, helping man the food collection in Tesco and also their executive team who came to the William Elder Building to help sort the donations from Tesco.”
