Massed bands at Floors Castle

The Lochiel Marching Drill Team from New Zealand wowed the large crowd at the Massed Pipe Band and Family Fun Day held on Sunday at Floors Castle.

This prestigious drill team of 24 young women is not only a household name within New Zealand but is also celebrated and respected by many overseas audiences throughout the world who have had the opportunity to witness the team’s exceptional precision drill routines.

The foot-perfect display team were the guest performers at Sunday’s action-packed event which saw pipe bands from all over the Borders and Lothians coming together and playing a selction of music passed down through the centuries.

Another popular attraction was the Lynella School of Highland Dancing as well as the display by a dog agility team, face painters and many more activities.

The tractor rides proved popular, as were the organised garden tours with the castle’s head gardener and there was also an opportunity to try your hand at tomahawk throwing or archery.
