The route includes the brutal climb up Ford Bank. Riders will complete three loops and finish with a ‘sprint’ climb up to Hay Farm.

Due to demand following the success of previous editions of this race, organisers are now expanding the day to two separate races - each with a maximum of 60 riders.

One of the organisers said: “As with any event the key to the success of the day is all in the preparation and support and as organiser the responsibility for the safety of riders, public and supporting staff is absolutely essential.

“Although very exciting to have 120 people racing on the roads we travel daily, the two races are on the open roads with live traffic, similar to most road races. To keep everyone safe and make the day a success we need your help.

“We need marshals at race HQ and at certain junctions and sections of the route. In return for your help you get to see an exciting day of cycle racing, and knowing you were part of the team that made it happen.”

Riders compete a number of laps before continuing to the left turn up to Hay Farm for the hill sprint finish.

The first race will be a category 3/4 race which is aimed at getting people into road racing. The race starts at 9.30am with a marshals’ brief at 09:00. .

The second race, at 12.30pm, is a category 2/3/4 event which is aimed at the more experienced road racers.
