Man ejected from car sunroof after collision with JCB

A Coldstream man was airlifted to hospital after he was involved in a collision with a JCB.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to assist North East Ambulance Service with the incident which happened on the A698 to the west of Berwick at 4:40pm on Monday.

The 29-year-old man had been ejected from the sunroof of his car and landed on the road. He sustained multiple serious injuries.

The patient was treated at the scene by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew where he was stabilised before being flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 20 minutes for on-going treatment. He arrived in a stable condition.

The road was closed with traffic diverted until the scene was cleared.
