'˜Make your voice heard' in consultation
Berwick MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan has urged residents to make their voice heard in the Government consultation for the next CrossCountry rail franchise.
The consultation asks for people’s views on ideas to improve train services on the network. Those services are provided by the current train operator through a franchise agreement with the Government which is up for renewal towards the end of 2019.
Anne-Marie said: “The Government’s commitment to the East Coast Main Line was confirmed last week when the Prime Minister announced a £780million investment programme in the East Coast Main Line, which will give passengers more seats and faster, more frequent journeys, which demonstrates the commitment to the North East.
“I have spoken with Government over recent days regarding the vital importance of trains and local infrastructure to north Northumberland and they know very clearly how valued the stations through Morpeth, Alnmouth and Berwick are.

“I would encourage everyone in the area to make their voice heard so together we can secure a bright future for rail infrastructure and travel in our patch.”
Last week, former Berwick MP Lord Alan Beith encouraged people to respond to the consultation.
