Lorry causes traffic chaos in town centre
Another large vehicle got stuck in a Berwick town centre bottleneck, causing a major traffic snarl-up on a busy Saturday afternoon.
The lorry was unable to negotiate the corner at the bottom of Church Street by the Town Hall, causing huge disruption.
It took two police officers and a member of the public to help the driver reverse back up Church Street.
There was a strikingly similar incident involving a lorry at the same location two weeks ago and there have previously been cases of tourist coaches getting stranded there.
Nicholas Box, who submitted this picture, said: “Perhaps the town council could put pressure on the authorities to erect a sign, even if temporary, at the top of Church Street warning drivers of large vehicles not to attempt this dangerous corner, as it is impossible for them to exit safely at the bottom of the hill.”
