Light up a Life is sponsored by Cooperative Funeralcare and is an annual celebration of life, open to anyone whether they have a connection to the hospice or not.

People were invited to join in with an evening of songs, music, contemplation and remembrance, led by hospice chaplain Davina Radford. The Berwick Concert Band provided musical accompaniment and Berwick Community Choir led the song. Special guests included the mayor and civic party.

The service ended with a switch on of hundreds of Christmas lights.

All funds from Light up a Life, which asks supporters to make a donation in their loved ones name, in return for a special card containing their name and a memory stat on which to write a message, will go towards annual running costs of St Oswald’s Hospice.

The hospice, although based in Newcastle, cares for adults and children with incurable condition across Northumberland.
